Casablanca

The Dar America Information Resource Center (IRC) in Casablanca offers a comprehensive collection of 2,000 books about the United States including books about American history, geography, literature, politics, women studies, culture, English teaching, art and current issues.  It also offers periodicals and materials on CD-ROM.Dar America has access to a tremendous amount of electronic information on U.S. topics, including legislative developments, foreign and domestic policy, and social, economic and political issues. Through using a wide variety of online databases, such as Lexis-Nexis and Factiva, we provide our clients with information that is both current and authoritative.

The Dar America IRC belongs to the Board of English Language Librarians:The BELL. Through this organization, Dar America offers information to its members about holdings of other English Language Libraries in Morocco, and arranges interlibrary loans. If information is not available in Dar America collection, the librarian consults with other libraries.

Dar America IRC Services

Dar America offers a collection of books, periodicals, CD-ROMs, most of which are available for library members to borrow. To become a member, you need to present 2 photos, a  photocopy of Identity card, and 60dh per year. Membership cards gives you access to internet, film shows, round table discussions and other programs.Members must be professionals in business, journalists, professors, other professionals or university students throughout Morocco.

Reference Service:

The IRC staff provides researchers and professionals with in-depth information and documentation on a wide variety of political, economic, social and cultural issues.  Requests for information should be addressed to the IRC staff by mail, Fax, phone of E-mail

Outreach Service:

As part of their outreach program, IRC Casablanca distribute books, brochures, information packets, articles, and other products to selected recipients (in Morocco only).  Moroccans with a professional interest in the United States can join this service by contacting the IRC Casablanca Staff.

Internet Orientation Session:

IRC organizes internet orientation sessions to Moroccan institutions and researchers, upon request. They also provide free tutorials on how to access U.S. internet sites.

Internet Room:

IRC has an internet room with 6 computers connected to internet and available for internet access for IRC members. The internet service is made available for research purposes only.
