More than 80 students, representatives from Access programs around Morocco, gathered in Rabat May 1-3 to participate in the first annual Festival of Access Student Talent (FAST).

Organized largely by the Moroccan Association of Teachers of English, a major partner for Access, the festival showcased talents that students have been developing as part of Access:  public speaking, computer graphics, singing, theater, and short films.

At the Opening Ceremony, Chargé d’affaires Robert Jackson declared the logo created by Saïd Bighardain from Aït Melloul the winner of the Access Morocco logo contest.

At the same location, the same weekend, about 40 Access alumni from Oujda to Agadir created the new Moroccan Access Alumni Club.  For the last year or so, the Moroccan Education and Resource Network (MEARN) has been mentoring Access alumni in various activities, mostly community service projects.

Representatives of the alumni groups have met several times to discuss forming an association.  This weekend, they decided to become a legally-recognized organization under the umbrella of MEARN and to focus on giving back to their communities.
